Joan Sharp Henning called me earlier today with the sad news of Bill Wilson's death in a private aircraft accident in Utah on 30 July.
Bill had attended the annual Experimental Aircraft Association's fly-in at Oshkosh, WI. He and a California flying club buddy were on their way home, each alone in his own plane and flying in loose formation, when Bill's aircraft suddenly nosed over and went straight into the terrain. No weather problems and no turbulence. No distress radio call. Appears to have been a sudden, massive heart attack and Bill's collapse on the controls causing the crash.
