Tour of Colonial America Sites

10:00 amBus pick-up at hotel, with personal tour guide for the entire day.

10:15-12 NoonExperience interior tours of Independence Square buildings and related colonial sites. These include the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, ChristChurch, and Franklin’s Print Shop.Although there are Park Rangers manning each site, our guide will accompany us, monitor and augment the Rangers’ information, where appropriate.Note:The majority of the historic sites have easy access ramps.

12:15 pmThree-course luncheon at City Tavern with wait staff in colonial dress.

1:30 – 4:00 pmPersonal, guided tour continues including Elfreth’s Alley, Congress Hall, Quaker Meeting House, and Betsy Ross House, followed by drop off at hotel.

Maritime and Constitution Day

9:30 amBus pick up at hotel for transport to USS New Jersey # 62, berthed in CamdenNJ.

10:00 amMemorial Service on board the New JerseyGuided Ship’s Tour, and Buffet Lunch on tented deck, beneath 16” guns.

1:00 pmPick up at USS NJ for transport/brief drop off: Vietnam Veterans and Korean War Memorials, followed by driving tour of Penn’s Landing area, featuring USS Olympia.

2:30 pmReturn to hotel.

6:30 pm to 9:30 pmBanquet in the hotel ballroom.

Guided in-house tour of Powel House, city mansion of the last colonial Mayor of the city.

2:30 pmBuses drop off at National Constitution Center, featuring the movie “Freedom Rising” and independent touring of inter-active site exhibits.Note:Buses will remain at the Center garage for anyone wishing to return to the hotel after the movie.

Touring Costs:$119.40 per person includes all buses, guides, one, formal, plated lunch, taxes, gratuities and entry fees to all itinerary sites, except the USS NJ.

Additional Tour Costs:$31.95 pp + 2.24 tax USS New Jersey, includes Memorial Service, guided tour of the ship and catered, buffet lunch on tented deck.

Getting Around in the City on Your Own:

Philadelphia is primarily a walking city because of its history, but there are many forms of easy and inexpensive transportation alternatives available just outside of the hotel for the convenience of non-walking travelers.For example, the Marriott offers a free shuttle to the historic area; all-day off/on passes on the Philly Plash, (Jitney bus), @ $2.00 per day will take you all over town.In the historic area, there are old-fashioned trolley cars available to travel to/from special sites, if you return to explore after the arranged tours. 

Automobile Transportation:

If you are driving to Philadelphia, please be aware that off-site parking from the hotel has been arranged at a rate of $15. per day.This is a preferred, negotiated rate that will require passes be issued for each car at check-in to hotel.Please let us know, in advance, if you will require a parking pass, so that we can have them ready for you at check-in.

Note:The hotel Valet Parking fee is $35.00 day, plus tax and gratuity, if you desire to use that service.
